Gemdale the Voyager: A Harmonious Blend of Modernity and Tradition

Smart House Library's Award-Winning Design Emphasizes Natural Integration and Cultural Dialogue

Unveiling the Gemdale the Voyager, a sales office design project by Smart House Library that reinterprets national cultural characteristics through modern design language. This unique project, located in Yunnan, China, is a testament to the seamless integration of architecture and nature, offering an elegant and distinct space.

The Gemdale the Voyager project draws its inspiration from the collision of modernity and tradition, creating an ideal space that is both unique and elegant. The interior design uses modern language to reinterpret national cultural characteristics, resulting in a space that is flexible, elegant, and distinct. The use of natural light and the catalysis of materials greatly enhance the temperament and beauty of the space.

Located in Yunnan, a historical city known for its splendid natural scenery, the project is designed to integrate with nature. The architecture facade features naturalization, modernization, simplicity, and refinement. The project is abstracted into a minimalist form, and a glass curtain wall is used to connect the indoor and outdoor, reflecting the beauty of the mutual penetration of modern architecture and nature.

The design realization technology used in the project aims to unify the interior and exterior with nature. The palette of lake blue and earth color is chosen to achieve harmony with the scenery. Classic beige and dark coffee colors, representing the combination of tradition and fashion, are boldly used. The use of cotton and linen fabrics increases the breath of nature in the space, highlighting the dialogue with nature.

With an area of 980 square meters, the sales office highlights the integration with nature and local culture. Extending the architectural style, the overall interior design adopts curved surfaces and concise lines as the main design elements. The cultural elements of sails are adopted in the hall to express the refinement of the local culture, taking advantage of the open view of the surrounding landscape.

The project started in April 2019 and finished in September 2019 in Kunming, China. With a flexible design, the space changes with historical context and environment. The furnishing is more like a dialogue with nature, with itself, and with life. From the visual color, the sense of touch, and the feedback of light and shadow on the object, it is a comprehensive aesthetic experience of life.

The project faced the challenge of maximizing the transparency of space. The lighting of the floor-to-ceiling glass is designed so that visitors can enjoy the outdoor scenery from any perspective. The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
